signs of summer ending ~

2

The season begins with the hopes and dreams

of a warm, bountiful summer and a plate full of burgers.

1

A sense of sadness and melancholy fills the hearts of everyone when the hamburgers are gone and the days become shorter. Time to close up the family cabin ending another season of summer.

for mabel ~

when i sit at the spinning wheel, i'm forever connected to all the women in my family whose hands created, mended, and reared ~ they were the inspiration and the everlasting bond.
i was so fortunate to have a caring and giving grandmother who taught me to use my hands. it was natural for me. i took to it without any trouble. i could read written patterns as a youngster and could visualize the method of creation ~ something, i only learned as an adult, others had problems doing.
so this is a tribute to her ~ mabel. my dear grandmother who gave me years of friday afternoon visits, saturday piano lessons and most of all, her aqua colored dimestore crochet hooks.
